Extended Outpatient Appointment
A longer, in-person ADHD medication review for patients who require additional clinical assessment and physical health monitoring.
Who should book this appointment?
New patients transferring their ADHD care
If you have been diagnosed with ADHD by another provider and would like Juno Clinic to take over your medication treatment and prescribing, your first medication appointment with us will be an Extended Outpatient Appointment.
Patients with an overdue six-month review
Patients receiving ADHD medication through Juno Clinic should attend an in-person outpatient review every six months. If this appointment has been missed or has become overdue, an Extended Outpatient Appointment may be required before prescribing can continue.
Why is an extended appointment needed?
ADHD medication requires appropriate clinical and physical health monitoring. The Extended Outpatient Appointment gives us additional time to review your ADHD treatment and complete the assessments needed to make sure prescribing remains safe and appropriate.
For new patients transferring their care to Juno Clinic, we need to complete our own clinical review and cardiovascular screening before commencing medication prescribing.
What happens during the appointment?
We will review your ADHD treatment and discuss how your medication is working for you. This includes its effectiveness, duration of effect, any side effects or difficulties and whether your current treatment remains appropriate for your needs.
Physical health & cardiovascular review
We will also complete the relevant physical health and cardiovascular monitoring. Depending on your individual circumstances, this may include:
What happens afterwards?
If there are no concerns and it is clinically appropriate for Juno Clinic to prescribe your ADHD medication, we will discuss your treatment plan and next steps with you.
What if something needs further assessment?
If we identify something that requires further assessment, investigation or information, we will explain this to you and discuss what needs to happen before medication can be commenced or prescribing can continue.
Remember your six-monthly review
Once established with Juno Clinic, patients receiving ADHD medication should attend an in-person outpatient appointment every six months, alongside any additional monitoring or appointments that are clinically required.
